Create new Events on Switches

Hi all,

me again oops

After playing around a while with the new NetMRG, I'd like to trap events on mulitiple switches with 'tons' of Ethernet-Ports

I wonder if it's possible to create an event on each port to get the IO-Errors which would beeing 'immedeatly' visible in the event log.

Now I have to questions to this idea

First one Could this intention bring down the server by ments of CPU- and/or memory load?

Second one How could I manage to set up events for all switches? It would be quite frustrating to manually set up each port with it's rules.

What your proposing for #1 is commonly handled through SNMP traps. NetMRG doesn't have any trap handling currently built in; only polling, so I'm not aware of a solution to that ATM.

For #2, I believe you could add the events you desire to the monitors your templates are based on and re-apply the templates to all your switch ports. I think this will try to add the missing events to your existing monitors.

However, this doesn't work anyhow. Maybe I'm wrong, however I tried several things to do the trick and was not lucky. (

What I meant with the question of bringing down the server was how much CPU- and memory-load the Event-Process needs for processing many events...

Currently I try to set up each port manually - til' I find another solution roll

We don't have any numbers on what event processing does for cpu time or load.
