Device type templates

I find myself always adding the same monitors, alarms, graph templates, etc to devices on certain groups.
For example, for a Cisco router I always want to monitor
- CPU
- Temperatures
- blablabla
I need also the same
- Thresholds for CPU and respective alarm
- Thresholds for Temperatures and respective alarm

If I could define a template for devices, and could apply that template to a device, or auto apply it to a group when a device was added to that group, that would make life so much easier 8)

Yep, we also agree that device type and host templates would be very useful; especially when first setting up NetMRG as I'm sure you are doing. It is on our todo list (see here). We're not exactly sure how we'd like to implement it yet, so I'm not sure how far-off that feature is.

Yes, I'm setting up NetMRG on my company's network.
We have 107 network devices, from which 80% are routers, the rest being switches and cache engines. You can see my dilema twisted
Well, even if I won't be able to fully test(107 times hehe) that feature in a near future, I trully believe it's a major feature that many would enjoy.

My thanks for all the work so far, which has been great D

Our experience with routers and switches is helped a lot by using the 'interface cache' page; goto the group that has your device, and click on then 'view interface cache' (or 'recache interfaces' if that's not available). You can apply a template graph to an entire device through this interface; greatly reducing the time it takes to setup interfaces.
