Hi.

I've couple of groups.

I created user "user1" with such rigths:
Permit Type = Single View Only
Group = "Group 1 Name"

I log in as "user1" and I see device tree for "Group 1 Name" but I haven't rights to graphs in this group at "devices", "sub-devices" and "monitors".

Regards.

The 'Monitoring' section (Groups, Device Types, and Notifications) are designed to be the management interface to NetMRG. You add devices and their monitors here (things you want to be graphed), but isn't really setup to view the items.

The 'Reporting' section, especially the 'Device Tree' is what we've designed to view the graphs. It's much more powerful in that you can construct graphs out of multiple monitors to make the data more useful (like traffic graphs - both the 'in' and 'out' monitors for an ethernet card, or cpu graphs with the system, user, and nice process time).

For your SVO users to be able to see the data, you need to create graphs attached to the devices under 'Device Tree' (called 'Views'). You do this by clicking the grey graph icon (or orange if something's already there), and clicking the 'edit' link at the bottom of the page.
To create a graph, click on either 'Custom Graphs' or 'Template Graphs' (depending on whether you will use this graph again or not - custom for only once, template for many times), and click the 'add' link. This will take you to a page where you can define some basic information about the device, and after you save you will see the graph you are going to build. Click the 'add' link, which will take you to a page where you can select your monitor device, as well as other basic information like what color should be used to represent it, and how it should be displayed (area, line, etc). Save, and continue to add your monitors.

I just talking about my problems with 'Device Tree' not 'Monitoring'.

I've graphs attached to the devices in the group "Group 1 Name". I see under 'Device Tree' orange icon near devices but when I click I get " Your last action was DENIED " .

Is it ok ?

Okay, I understand what you're saying now. I've noticed similar behavior when giving an SVO user rights to see just a subgroup (ie, a group that's not in the Root group).
I've setup bug#204 to track this. I'll see what I can find out.

Okay, we finally got things figured out ;). This should be fixed in tonights CVS snapshot, if you want to give it a try. We should also have a release out within a week or so to fix these couple issues.

For now I would continue to post here and ask us if it sounds do-able, or if we have it implemented some other way. I just want to avoid the situation where we're marking bugs as "won't fix" - that just looks bad ;)

1. Possibility to edit graphs generated by "Test" i.e.:
- change color
- change title
- change multiplier
- change type graph (area, line1, line2, line3).
- add label
- add "show current value"
- add "show average value"
- add "show maximum value"
and so on .
If I'll have the same possibilities as in custom graph -> edit graph item I'll be very happy.

Now I create custom graphs based on one "monitor", but it's silly.

2. In custom graphs when I've one item type set to area and next item type set to stack it'll be very nice to have possibilitie to add "show summary current value", "show summary average value" and "show summary maximum value".

Regarding Point 1:

Yes, it would be silly to create a custom graph for these. You should use template graphs for this purpose. They allow you to create a custom graph once, and use that as a template for all devices/sub-devices that contain similar data. They're pretty powerful, and we make use of them extensively in our installs.

Regarding Point 2... could you give an example? I'm not following.

It was confusing for me where I had to choose "Monitor" not "Test" for item . It looks strange. For me when you are building template you should use templates i.e. ifInOctets.%ifIndex% not a specific "monitor" name build for specific sub-device.
Now I see that template graphs really work but as I said building process is a little confusing.

In custom graphs you able to add to graph such information as:
"Current" value, "Average" value, "Maximum" value for any item.

When you have two items on graph you see two "Current" values, two "Average" values, two "Maximum" values.

I'd like to have such option "display total average value", display total current value", "display total maximum value".

I.e.
I display hard drives capacity in my server. I see that one hard disk has "current" 10GB used, next disk has "current" 5 GB used, next disk has "current" 20GB used.
For me valuable will be additional line below graph : 35 GB (total current value).
I hope now it's clear enough. :)

Have you tried adding an item to the graph, specifying "Sum of all graph items" (or words to that effect) as the monitor? It should let you do what you describe.
