| It looks as though you're only allowing a subset of the MIBs in your snmpd.conf. Try allowing ".1" (there should be examples of this elsewhere in the forum). If you still need help, post your snmpd.conf. |

It appears your SNMP config is correct; what happens if you try to walk the interfaces mib, or .1?
| Code: |
snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost interfaces
snmpwalk -v2c -c public localhost .1 |
Do either of these provide data from the IF-MIB?

I have the same problem. snmpwalk shows data from IF-MIB.

smo,
Did you delete the template group or device? If you did this, clicking 'monitor/graph' for the snmp interfaces wouldn't have made any monitors.
Can you verify that you have Bytes in and out for the subdevices (interfaces) you're trying to monitor?

I correct stats and graps for monitors I have added to network interfaces. Also for monitors added to the "System" group. However, the graphs for the device (a server) are all empty (eg. "hostname - Available memory", "hostname - CPU Utilization").
I haven't deleted anything.
Edit: I had to create bytes in/out monitors for the interfaces manually. Is this expected? (the documentation is pretty sparse ) |

Thanks for the screenshots; that helps a bit.
It looks like you don't have the proper parameters applied to the subdevices for your disk and interface graphs (I see this b/c of the %dskPath% and %ifDescr% fields in your graph titles).
Commonly these get added automatically when you use the 'monitor/graph' link on the 'view interface cache' and 'view disk cache' page. Is this how you added the graphs?
If you need to add the parameters to your subdevices manually, you can do this by clicking the 'parameters' link next to your individual interfaces and disks, and then clicking the 'add' button to add the needed parameters. As from above, the names are going to be 'ifDescr' for interfaces, and have a value commonly like 'eth0'; the disks will add 'dskPath' as the name and commonly a value like '/'.
Hopefully we can figure out what's going on here, soon.

Yes, this is exactly how I added the graphs. What about rest of the graphs (load average, etc), they don't have subdevices to them or do they?

I seem to have the correct parameters (dynamic) in the subdevices. For example, from the screenshot's box eth0:
| Code: |
dev_name *********
ip *************
snmp_read_community ***********
subdev_name eth2
ifDescr eth2
ifIndex 4
ifIP ******
ifMAC 0:2:b3:db:55:6b
ifSpeed 100000000
|
Edit: I seem to have a graph for "boxname - %ifDescr%" but if I scroll down, I have individual graphs for "eth0", "eth1", etc. They show the correct IP on the graph, but no data. And I seem to have multiple graphs of the same title (ie. two empty graphs for eth0).
Here's a dump from an empty graph with "&debug":
/usr/bin/rrdtool graph - -s -108000 -e -360 --title "*** - Available Memory" -w 575 -h 100 -b 1024 -v "Bytes" --imgformat PNG DEF:zero=/var/lib/netmrg/rrd/zero.rrd:mon_25:AVERAGE CDEF:data1=zero,UN,1,1,IF,0,* CDEF:data1l=zero,UN,1,1,IF,0,* CDEF:data1m=zero,UN,1,1,IF,0,* AREA:data1#CC3300:"Swap " GPRINT:data1l:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:data1:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:data1m:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" COMMENT:"\n" CDEF:data2=zero,UN,1,1,IF,0,* CDEF:data2l=zero,UN,1,1,IF,0,* CDEF:data2m=zero,UN,1,1,IF,0,* AREA:data2#FF9933:"RAM " GPRINT:data2l:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:data2:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:data2m:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" COMMENT:"\n" CDEF:data3=zero,UN,0,0,IF,1,* CDEF:data3l=zero,UN,0,0,IF,1,* CDEF:data3m=zero,UN,0,0,IF,1,* LINE1:data3#000000:"Total" GPRINT:data3l:LAST:"Current\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:data3:AVERAGE:"Average\:%8.2lf %s" GPRINT:data3m:MAX:"Maximum\:%8.2lf %s" COMMENT:"\n" VRULE:1099346400#F00000
I think I probably have screwed up something during installation.

Everything needs to be in a subdevice just because that's how monitors are grouped. For things like 'load average' or 'cpu usage', we typically just make a 'System' subdevice group to put them in. The biggest thing is that you don't put more than one of the same type of monitor inside a single subdevice (like, Bytes In for interfaces), otherwise the templates don't know how to differentiate them.

Looks correct; You should have two groupings of parameters - a 'Configured Parameters' and a 'Dynamic Parameters' grouping. Hopefully, the 'ifDescr: eth0' is in the Configured Parameters section as well. Otherwise, I'm not sure how the dynamic parameters would get there.

Oops, I edited the above message after your post Everything seems correct from what you've described. I have my own monitors (fan monitors polling from SNMP) placed under a group named "System".
The small graphs when browsing the monitors do display data correctly, but the "templated graphs" aren't working. As I said, I had multiple copies of each templated graphs, so I deleted the duplicates, but it didn't help.
And yes: the ifDescr is in configured parameters as well.
One thing: under the interface cache, I have clicked "Monitor/graph", but under Monitors there are no monitors. Is this correct? |

Okay; that's interesting. It's good that we finally know that at least you're gathering data correctly; so when we get the templates working, you'll have data in the graphs then.
What happens when you paste that rrdtool command into your command line?

Hmm.. no. Did it work correctly for other interfaces?
