I can't find any docs on this, and searched on it but there's such little info on it.
Basically , here's what I do:
1. Create an event :
Name: Alert
Trigger Type: On Change
Situation: Normal *** What's the diff between normal critical, etc?
2. Click Modify Conditions (on 'Alert' event item) -> Add
Value Type: Current Value
Condition: >
Value: 1
** This is just a test scenario
3. Create Notification:
NAME: Email
COMMAND: /usr/bin/echo "ALERT" | /usr/bin/mail -s "NETMRG ALERT" me@gmail.com
4. Go back to Event "Alert", Click on the Alert, Add Response.
Notification: Email
Parameters: <blank>

I then viewed the Device Tree, looked at the status column and see one GREEN bubble that is lit in green. That events field next to that, shows 'Alert', and the 'Event Log' section does indicate an alert has been triggered.
However, no notification has been sent. I've done the obvious troubleshooting by running the email command as a test from the command line of that server. Any ideas? |

You're right - it's not very well documented. We hope to improve notifications and events in a future version.

"normal", "warning", and "critical" all just give you different hooks for attaching notifications and also change the "light" to green, yellow, or red.

Try running netmrg-gatherer from the command line, similar to:

| netmrg-gatherer -sm |
and looking for when the notification is executed. Feel free to post this output here if you need us to take a look at it.
